Sheridan Jones- Before and After Photos

Oh, I do love a glow up!! And part of the joy of my work is being able to “see” where I want an image to go before I even pick up my camera. With Sheridan Jones, the ideas just flowed due to how incredibly inspiring he is as a person and in his physical presence.

I loved that he wanted me to include his car in his some of his portraits, and while I was shooting that segment of his session I could envision the final photo. Being able to use Adobe Photoshop as a part of my photo creation, my imagination can become reality.

The two images in this post are the “before and after” of an image I could not wait for him to see once it was complete. I wanted to share them with all of you so you could get an idea of

what changes were made to the original photo in order to get to the final one.

Although I didn’t set my timer, I would estimate it took me just over an hour to make the necessary changes. And honestly, a good bit of that time was taken up with decision making. Each change you see is represents several iterations of that change. As I “tried on” different options to express the vision I had for the finished product, I would make notes then later decide which option most closely matched (or exceeded!) my original concept.

This is the kind of creative process I find most challenging and most rewarding. Sometimes I pinch myself because as a visual artist, I live in the time of Adobe Creative and the amazing applications I have at my fingertips which enable what I see in my mind’s eye to be shared with everyone.
